Shooting In The Los Angeles Airport

Speculations are flying on the issue of the shooting that happened around 11:00 A.M. in LA airport. Seems that a man was making a scene at the ticket counter at the Israeli airline EL AL. He was blaming that he lost his job due to "Saudi", he shot a round in the air, said some very bad jokes and started shooting. This is what a witness said in a phone conversation to CNN. The clerk at the ticket counter was shot and killed. Then a security guard from EL AL shot the shooter. There was no detail on the shooter. But from a witness, he was described as a white male caucasian, heavy built and wearing a ponytail. So, 2 were dead and 4 were wounded. We just got back from the chili cook off and I found out now there are 3 dead. Guess one of the wounded must have been in serious condition and died later. It isn't clear if this was a terrorists attack or just an irritated employee who got fired. Reports say that there might have been a second suspect, but not yet revealed. I am sure it will take a few days, until we know the true story.

"Fourth Of July!!!"

It's a day to celebrate our fair country for its independence. Barbeques, festivals and fireworks are the events of the day. This afternoon, my darling, his friend Evan and I attended a chili cook off festivity going on in Palo Alto. The weather was warm and hot at one point, but then there was a breeza and it started to get a bit windy. It cost 5 bucks for a tasting kit. We got to taste 4 different chili's, there were about 16 booths there. I chose booth #1, Palo Alto Runner Club, as "tasters choice". The lines were long for the tasting and there were a lot of people who attended. There was food, music, dancing and a petting zoo. The petting zoo had a donkey, pigs, piglets, rooster, chickens and a snake. This is the first of a four day weekend. I get to spend the 4th with my sweetie. Who can ask for anything more?? Not I. =0)

Tonights Movie Is..."13 Conversations About One Thing"

I never quite heard much about this movie, but it seems that my friends have heard great things about it. It has a great ensemble of actors. Matthew McConaughey, Alan Arkin, John Turturro, Amy Irving, Clea DuVall as the main characters. Storyline is based on a hit and run accident, a marriage falling apart and the wife who gets mugged, an insurance manager whose son is troubled and a young woman coping from an accident. Promising attorney, "McConaughey" is having drinks with some buddies for putting someone away and meets "Arkin" sitting at the bar. Words and a conversation are exchanged. Arkin tells him a story about a one of his employees who has been playing the lotto for 8 years and finally he wins 2 million. The talk about luck and miracles. Guess you kind of know where this is leading to. Next we see "McConaughey" dropping off a friend home and driving home. His mind is elsewhere and he sees something bright blind his eyesight. He suffers a cut on the left side of his forehead. Laying in the alley is a young woman. He leaves her there and flees the scene. The young woman survives but has a long process to heal. Scenes show her working for a cleaning company. She speaks to a friend about a childhood memory where she was playing on the beach with her favorite doll and then an accident happens involving fire. Somehow it was because of that doll that she is alive to this day. I apologize for not remembering this, but there was this couple sitting next to me and the woman never stopped moving and making sounds. How rude!! Anyways, the young woman was on her way to drop a shirt that she fixed a rip on to one of housecleaning clients. She was walking and the shirt blew away, before you know it she gets hit and left lying on the curb. Bleeding and with a broken arm. Next, we see "Arkin" at work and conversing with his employees. His company is cutting back on expenses, so he has to lay off someone. But he has problems of his own. He has a troubled son who is in jail for purse snatching. He bails him out. Then "Amy Irving"the wife of a professor "John Turturro" is leaving her husband after finding out he is having an affair with another professor at his college where he teaches. She gets mugged by guess who? Arkin's son. Somehow all the characters are entwined and there pathes cross. It's funny how just pure luck can put such an effect on someone. Note* there is a blooper in the movie. Not sure if anyone noticed this, but my friend Agar noticed it and I started laughing. Seems that the cut on Matthew McConaughey's left side of his forehead seems to change every now and then to the right side.

Is Viv In A Bad Mood??

Just because I got into work late. My co worker dumps something on me and it isn't my time to take care of requests yet? NO. Viv is not moody. Yes, I do look stressed and a bit irritated but it's just that I have things thrown at me at once and I'm just trying to take care of it. Top things off, I forgot about a dentist appointment that is scheduled for next week. Tried to reschedule but "no can do", it's very important that I make this appointment. I haven't kept up with my teeth cleaning, so I know I will get grilled about this. Another reason that I am looking stressed is because I think I am coming down with something. I did take some dayquil and drinking a lot of liquids, so the "under the weather" feeling should go away. One more day and here comes a 4 day weekend!!!

Did You Know Muni Sucks?

Let me be specific..the muni metro lines going into downtown san francisco can kiss my #@*!. My Cal Train ride was perfect. I got in at 7:50 AM normal schedule time is 7:57 AM. So, I thought what the heck, I will take the muni metro "this trains goes through the tunnel" very bad choice. Never again will I do this. I sat in the train for 10 minutes. Then another 10 minutes at embarcadero station. Seems that there was a delay and a problem with the system, so everything was slowed down. I got to work at 8:45, 15 minutes late. Now, I really know better to take the buses on ground level, it make seem like you hit a lot of street traffic, but at least I know I won't be stuck sitting there and I do have alternate buses to take. I have experimented with the buses and now I know which route is best. I think.....

Is It Fourth Of July Already? And Did Someone Forget To Tell Me....

I got in the office and there was no one there. Supposedly, there should be 3 people who come in earlier than me. One was away from his desk. One came in later than me and the other we had no idea where she was. Later found out that she called in sick and left a message with my supervisor. It's been fairly slow during the morning and as expected, with the short work week, many people are probably going to wrap things up before the holiday. Not looking forward to tomorrow or Wednesday.

Sticky and Itchy

No, it's not a television show or name of a band. I got a slight sunburn yesterday evening and I am feeling a bit sticky and itchy. Wearing this shirt doesn't help much. Maybe that is why I feel a bit irritated on the back of the neck. People tell me to put aloe vera lotion and it should help heal. So, I will give it a try.

Summer Is Finally Here!

It's only been a week since the first day of summer arrived and the beautiful hot weather is here! Normally, it doesn't warm up till Noon, but it got warm and hot at 10 A.M. My hunny and I went to our usual visit to the farmer's market. There, we picked up some goodies for lunch, dinner and dessert. We got some piroshskis for lunch, which I haven't had for such a long time. Brings back memories of the neighborhood deli that made fresh beef and cheese piroshskis. That place went out of business a little over 10 years ago. It was owned by a very nice middle aged couple. "sigh" Back to my Sunday...After the piroshkis, the darling one and I decided to hang out by the pool. Catch some rays, relax, drinking water and eatting pistachios . The sun was out and the pavement was very hot. "ouch ouch' The water in the pool was nice and cool, so we took a dip. After being out for an hour and half, we decided to go back inside. I had a tan line on the neck and back. It's not as noticeable as it was earlier, so I guess it won't hurt as bad or then again it just might. All I can say, I feel a bit sticky. Well, it's close to my bedtime. Tomorrow is a work day, but it's a three day work week. Woo hooo!

Finally, World Cup Championship

After the countless games, it's come down to this. Germany vs. Brazil. Just like the rest of the country, we woke up at 4 A.M. to see the game. The score is now Germany 0 and Brazil 2. And it's over!!!! BRAZIL wins the cup. The most ugly and hideous trophy I have ever seen in any sport event. As I expected, I knew Brazil was going to win this. Congratulations to them, it was a long road, they played well and in the end the best team won. What??? No, presentation of the trophy to the winning team?? Normally, this is shown right after every sport event, what a bummer...Ok, now I am taking my tush back to bed.
