It's that time of year, for kids and big kids to dress up and feast on candy. But lately, each year there have been fewer trick or treaters roaming the streets. I remember during my childhood years, when my siblings or friends would look forward to going house to house and returning home with bags of candies. There weren't much children in costumes (only during the evening, I saw them), but there were adults. On my way to work, I saw a devil bike messenger, a person wearing a skunk suit, angels and a hippie.
At work, we had a Octoberfest/Halloween party. Not many people were in costume, but there were some notes ones: a man in a nun outfit, a surfer without a surf board, a Saturday night fever dancer, 2 jailbirds, a granny and others. We had a variety of sausages, potato salad, cookies, brownies, beer and sodas.
No kiddies came by the house to collect any candy, so it will go to the vultures...I mean my co workers.
It's so hard to believe that it's been one year since my darling one, Bill, and I first met. I remember that day so well....
The weather called for rain and it did rain. Bill was just getting over from having strep throat. He was planning to come in the city, to a friend's place, for movie night. The movies of choice were: Scary Movie (the first one, I think?), H2O (Twenty Years Later) and the Peanuts classic, The Great Pumpkin..Charlie Brown. We decided to finally meet in person, after chatting in a chatroom and talking on the phone. I remember about not being nervous and to just take this meeting as making a new friend. Not really expecting much out of it. I came straight from work and we decided to meet at a restaurant in San Francisco, that was near his friend's house which was in the Haight district. The restaurant of choice was Cha Cha Cha's. It was a very nice place. Things went well and he invited me to join him over at his friend's place. There were a bunch of people there. We stayed briefly, just to watch the Peanuts cartoon. Afterwards, it was time to go, cause I had to go to work. He took me home and we ended the night with a kiss. We set up a 2nd date to watch a movie called, Shallow Hal and now we are living together!
My darling Bill, thank you for...making me laugh and smile, being there to give me a hug when things aren't going well, your encouragement and support.
Mahal kita!!! or for only Bill to understand....Looby Loo!!!!
They are the proud winners of the "World Series"!! It was a well played by both and the better team won. Just wished it was our home team.
It was a sporting event for the bay area. Niners won and are in first place in their division. Raiders lost and now our Giants. =0(
Oh and I forgot, the San Jose Sharks lost too.
It's been awhile since my hunnay and I have visited the local theatre. So, we and a friend saw this movie.
The main character, Frank played by british actor, Jason Statham, was a man whose job is to deliver packages without any questions or names given. Those are the rules. But of course, in one of his jobs, he breaks the rule and all hell breaks loose! There is an amazing car scene in the beginning and a very fancy, sleek BMW. This car had special shock absorbers and security lock code, this won't allow you to drive the car, without the code. Qu Shu plays Lai Kawai, the damsel in distress, She was that special package, that was not suppose to be open. Her father is some big business man who joins forces with "Wallstreet" nice played by Matt Schluze. They were involved in smuggling imigrants in huge cargo bins. Basically, boy meets girl, girl and boy fall for eachother, boy gets a change of heart and helps girl.
Things that impressed me with this movie: Stratham's portrayal of a man, whose is to the point, very straightforward, clean, neat and who has a heart. His choice of fashion when he is on the job, is very snappy. The dark suit, nicely pressed, clean shoes, tie, driving gloves and sometimes shades is a nice look. He doesn't come across as some gun ho, screaming, muscled hero. The fight scenes were very impressive. This is my first time seeing this actor in action.
Few things that I felt, weren't necessary in the movie: The explosion scene, fight scene and then later on they pull out the guns, but they miss their target. Mid through the movie and toward the end, it starts to drag a bit.
Out of 4 stars I give it a 3.
Well it's come down to a even game series (Giants won 3 games and Angels have 3). Later tonight we will know who will prevail as champion. Giants were leading in Game 6, but the Angels managed 6 runs to win the game. My heart goes to the Giants. Whether they win or lose, there should be a parade for them. They made it this far and they are the best in the National League.
Go Giants!!!!
Every year, I always promise myself to get a flu shot and when it's time to get one, I end up getting a cold or the flu before I even get it. Well, not this time! Due to exercising and eating well, I haven't come down with a cold. So, I was able to get my shot last Thursday. This has been the first time in over 10 years. People kept warning me not to get the shot, cause I might have some side effect and get sick. That is just a myth, cause I got the shot about 3 days ago and I am just fine. Wait until they get the flu and they are all sneezing with a runny nose. And here I am immune to it already. Hahaha to them!
