Boy meets girl, things click, boy loses girl, boy forgets to ask for girl's name and number. This is the premise of the movie. Lance Bass (member of the boy band N*Sync) plays Kevin Gibbins. A guy who is shy, quiet and doesn't know what to say to the opposite sex. He works for an ad agency. His boss, played by David Foley, is into wheat grass and ginkobiloba. He gets assigned to help create an ad for their big client, "Reebok", with a female co-worker, played by Tamala Jones, who doesn't really like Kevin. He gets an idea and she uses something else, which the Reebok company doesn't like. Then she pitches Kevin's idea, they love it and she gets the credit. On his way home, while riding the "L" train, he starts listening to Al Green on his headphones. This annoys some people and he apologizes for being loud. From the crowd, coming toward him, is the girl of his dreams (played by Emmanuelle Chriqui). They realize that they are big cubs fans, they like the music of Al Green and they can name all the presidents in the order that they served. This, I thought was cute. Then he asked her, what one thing that no one knows about, would you tell a total stranger. She says that she likes to make paper airplanes, because her dad is a pilot. She makes one and it ends up in this guy's afro. The hide and then they went their separate ways and he realizes that he didn't ask her name or got her number. His friends get on his case and call him a loser. I don't see them with any women, so they are in the same boat. Joey Fatone plays one of Kevin's friends of course. He plays, up and coming singer/rock star, Rod. Fatone doesn't sing that bad. I don't think it was necessarily of hearing him cut the cheese in one scene, once was enough. There is a character named, Mick Silver, that Rod idolizes and I couldn't figure out who played him, but he looked so familiar. Well, I found out who it was at the end of the credits, it's Richie Sambora.
Ok, back to the lovebirds. Kevin decides to take matter in his own hands and puts out a flier (with his phone on it), in search of the girl that he met on the train. The local newspaper gets wind of this and does a story. Now Kevin becomes an overnight celebrity. All the women are swooning over this and start calling Kevin up. He gets all these phones calls and meets up with strange results. Obviously, the girl of his dream, has a boyfriend. But her boyfriend is too busy with work and doesn't make time with her. She tells her roommate that she met a guy on the train, who she finds interesting. At one point, they had a misoppurtunity, when they were both at an Al Green concert. He leaves and she comes in to go to her seat.
His buddies try and use the opportunity to meet the women, when the phone calls get to much to deal with for Kevin. A former classmate of Kevin, (who asked a girl out to the prom, turned him down and said she was going with Kevin), was assigned to write the story. At first he writes about a man who meets his soulmate and goes in search for her. But then he writes follow up story, saying that it was all a scam for Kevin and his friends to meet women. His dream girl sees the article, Kevin finally sees her and runs to her. She get on the train, he tried to get her attention, she shoves the article and headline on the window, as the train rides off. He sees this and feels hurt. What he doesn't understand is, why she never called him. Well, she did and one of his friends met her. She knew that it wasn't Kevin and his buddy realized she was the girl.
Kevin tries one desperate move to win her back. This I thought was real cute. He places an ad on the billboards, saying: "I'm sorry "L" train girl. Please meet me at our stop at 7 p.m. There was a heart and his name next to it. This is sweet. Anyway, he goes to their stop, people are crowding him, he's on television and people are watching. It's after 7 and people start to walk away. He feels hurt. Then a paper airplane flies down to his feet. He looks at it, written on it is, "read me" and then it says, look up! He does and there she is! He runs to her, people follow him, he kisses her and there are cheers. As the credit roll at the end, Al Green is singing, "Let's Stay Together." The film pauses and they cut into the make up area. Justin and Chris (also members of N*Sync), make a cameo appearance as make up artist. Justin was cute in this. I thought it was a funny sketch.
All in all, this was a cute movie. It isn't "You Got Mail" or "Sleepless In Seattle". It's cute, but predictable. So far, I've seen Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone in their acting abilities. Justin is ok, but he doesn't seem like a natural for acting. Lance is smart, he was in "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire" playing for charity and he didn't too bad. He had an acting role in "7th Heaven", which I thought wasn't that bad and now this movie. He just needs to find the right script. I found out that he co produced "On The Line." He also manages some country acts. Not bad for an N*Syncer. Joey was in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", which I have seen.
It's 2003!!!! Nice clear, sunny day. Today is a day of college bowl games. Some department stores are open. Usually, only a few stores and places are open. Now, I guess it's changed.
It was very relaxing and peaceful here in our neck of the woods. Too bad, I have to go back to work tomorrow. =0(
Well, another year has gone by. What has the year "2002" brought me?
My hunny Bill, met my mother for the first time. She became very ill and died on May 5. I am glad that they got the chance to meet. He also got the opportunity to meet my siblings, friends and relatives, but not in good circumstances.
This year, marked the one year anniversary with my loving boyfriend, Bill. I turned 35. Late August, I moved in with him. We both went on a started eatting healthier and exercising. I got my driver's license, finally!!! We had our first trip together and flew to Las Vegas. Then we took a trip to the east coast, to meet his parents and sister.

How could the Niners be leading 20 - 0 against the St. Louis Rams? And end up losing to them, with the final score 20-31. Ugggggggh
Well, they better be prepared and wake up! Next Sunday is the real deal. No slacking off. It's win and continue on to the playoff. It's the end of the season for the loser.
Go Niners!
Tonight, the Niners play the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football. This game isn't necessary, cause we know that the Niners will face the N.Y. Giants this coming Sunday, in San Francisco. My main concern is, that the Niners don't have any injuries and they come into the playoff with healthy players.
As I was browsing the channels on my Walkman radio, a deejay was talking about how San Francisco charges for parking at shopping areas. Then he starts to mention that bay area shopping malls, are thinking of charging for parking. It will be 1 dollar for the first hour and then I'm not sure how much it will be for half hour later. This is ridiculous, but pretty understandable. Retail stores didn't do well this year and they need to make money somewhere, to make ends meet.
Just when I found out from my sweetie, that the movie theatre that we go to, is going to raise the admission to an extra dollar. Movie theaters will be charging for parking, but of course you will need a validated ticket.
Yes, I know this is kind of short notice. But here's some last minute recommendations to celebrate and ring in the New Year. Like most people, who plan to go into San Francisco and do some celebrating. At least every club and place in the city will be having parties.
Events:
The Hyatt is having their traditional party, with the tops in food, music and company.
New Year's Eve Aboard the USS Hornet , swing back in time with the Cab Calloway Orchestra on the deck of this giant aircraft carrier.
If you want to dress up and be elegant, there is the, New Year's Eve 2002: Fantasia Ball at City Hall, join San Francisco's elite at City Hall for this elegant, black-tie affair.
For the sports fan, you can go to, Perry's--Union Street Sports, fans converge at this restaurant on New Year's Eve. Personally, I have eaten at this place. The food is okay. There isn't much room for anyone to move around.
Now for the some dancing and loud music:
Ruby Skye DJ Derrick Carter, indoor fireworks and fabulous eats at this posh affair. Even if it isn't New Year's, this place is always packed with people and very popular hot spot.
Tonga Room Shimmy into the future with live music and exotic cocktails. My brother, co-worker and a few friends have gone here. And they have said wonderful things about this place. If I ever get a chance or whenever I am in the city, I would like to go there.
If you can't decide where to go or what to do. There won't be a problem. Mostly everywhere you go, you will find something. Have fun and enjoy!
