The Atkins Diet

Ok, people that I have spoken with, have doubts about this diet. Basically, this diet deals with high protein and low carb foods. Not too many people are keen to this. But if you are at a point in your life, where you feel overweight or you just are. Then, you will need to do something about it. There are a lot of diets and losing weight drugs out in the market.

The thought of eating as much meat doesn't sound healthy, cause of all the fat. First of all, we aren't telling you to eat a whole cow or an entire pig. Maintain, the portion of food that you eat. Eat a few strips of bacon and eggs for the morning, instead of a bagel or Danish (Atkins has its own muffin mix, without the enriched flour, that you find in your regular muffins). Then for lunch, have a salad and some deli meats that are low in carbs. Dinner, you can have a steak with broccoli, or chicken with string beans. Most importantly, eat a moderate portion.

Personally, the Atkins Diet is my first diet to go on and I'm able to maintain my weight. I admit, it goes up and down every now and then. Most importantly, I don't weigh the same, as I did, when I first started on the diet. It wasn't easy to give up my bagels, pastries, cookies, brownies and all the sweet stuff. No more pasta, rice, popcorn or bread. Without all this, what is there to eat?? There are substitutes and now are foods that are low in carbs, less sodium and sugar free. Some companies have products that are low in carbs and Atkins has it's own products.

Once the eating habits have been established, you must EXERCISE!!! Whether it is working out at the gym or taking walks daily, this helps to maintain your weight and relieves stress. I go to the gym at least 4 times a week. Everyday, I walk to work (10 minute walk), then I take a walk during my lunch and then I have my walk, going home.

It's been almost eight months since I've been doing this and I am happy to say, that I have lost 37 lbs so far. It makes things easier, when you do this with a friend or in my case, my sweetheart gives me a lot of support and encouragement.

Even if you don't want to go on a diet and you don't want to give up certain things. Try eating smaller portions of what you normally eat and maintain an exercise regiment in your daily life.

The Scorpion King

In an ancient time, predating the pyramids, the evil king Memnon is using the psychic powers of his sorceress Cassandra to fortell his great victories. In a last ditch effort to stop Memnon from taking over the world, the leaders of the remaining free tribes hire the assassin Mathayus to kill the sorceress. But Mathayus ends up getting much more than he bargained for. Now with the help of the trixter Arpid, tribal leader Balthazar and an unexpected ally, it's up to Mathayus to fufill his destiny and become the great Scorpion King.

I really didn't find this movie that appealing. In "The Mummy 2", it didn't give much detail about the "Scorpion King." And in this film, chronicling about how, he became the ruler and king, there wasn't much of a story. It stars, well known wrestler, Dwayne Johnson aka "The Rock." He doesn't have much dialogue, in the movie. Every now and then, the camera will zoom to his face and he will have one of his famous expressions. Then there is the voluptous, Kelly Hu, who was a former Miss Teen USA, which I saw her win that title, playing the role of the sorceress, Cassandra. Dressed in nothing but skimpy outfits and showing a lot of skin. With these two, this is pretty much enough ammo to attract movie goers.

3 Weeks Until The Big Day!

Well, I finally got the chance, to pick out the hairstyle that I wanted for the wedding. With a lot of hair teasing, hair spray and bobby pins, to hold my hair in place. The end result turned out nicely. But after removing all the pins, my hair still feels sticky from all that hair spray, the next morning.

So, less then 3 weeks, I will go through the same ritual. Added to this, will be my nails being done and my eyebrows waxed. Ouch!...the thought of it sounds painful. This will be my very first time, for this to be done.
