Very Touching Story...

Last night, I saw 20/20. I don't normally watch the show, but if the storyline is interesting and catches my attention, then I will.

Eight years ago, Joe and Rachel's first child, Tyler, was born with "bubble boy syndrome." At first, they didn't understand why he was constantly sick. He was diagnosed with a a rare and deadly disorder called SCIDS, severe combined immunodeficiency disease. The illness first became known to the American public in the 1976 John Travolta movie The Boy in the Plastic Bubble. Tyler became very ill and didn't make it to his 2nd birthday.

At barely 20 years old, Joe and Rachel learned a terrible truth about themselves. Each carried a deadly gene that might produce the same sad results as Tyler in another child.

After learning this, the Williams family decided not to have any more children. They couldn't bear the thought of having another child go through what Tyler suffered.

But they accidentally became pregnant again, this time with twins. Instead of joy, Joe and Rachel were filled with dread. They realized that one or both of the twins could be born with the same deadly disease. It was like lightning striking again. Peyton was healthy, but Mason was diagnosed with SCIDS.

Both Peyton and Mason lived in seclusion. No contact with other children and the outside world. Any germ, can be deadly to Mason. As I was watching the family go through their daily routine, it's very sad.

Well good news came, a new mother donated her baby's umbilical cord blood after delivery. Umbilical cord blood is rich in stem cells and can kick start an immune system like Mason's.

Both parents had to quit their jobs and began the long journey to North Carolina, dreaming of a life for their son that won't end up like their first son's. After nine grueling days, Mason's chemotherapy is over. Finally, he is ready for the transplant his parents have dreamed of since the day he was born. His doctors finish the last round of tests and hope for the best.

To make this short, the transplant was a success and Mason is doing very well. He's still on medication and the family is facing large medical bills, due to the transplant.

He is a very happy, giggling and exuberant toddler. His motor skills and his growing, is a bit slower than that of his twin, Peyton. Both twins are able to go out in the open, minus the surgical mask. Mason was able to come face to face with a dog, fall on the ground and be able to touch it and play outside.

MTV VMA

Not sure why they call it, Video Music Awards, when they don't even show much videos. I remember when, MTV first came out. My friend and I would race home to try and catch the up and coming videos. We were big fans of "Duran Duran."

Speaking of Duran, it was great to hear that they are together again and touring. They made an appearance on the award show. To their surprise, they got their very first VMA since 20 years! Poor guys, they never won an award, yet they had so many of them. Congrats guys!! Boo to MTV for having audio problems when they were showing a montage of Duran's video history.

Back to Thursdays, award show. Of course, everyone is buzzing about the "Madonna kissing with Britney and Madonna kissing with Christina." Hmmm Madonna was getting a lil busy there. Both Britney and Christina were wearing the "Like a Virgin" outfits. Christina looks so different with the dark hair and she had a very nice tan.

The show had its surprises and there were some okay jokes. Chris Rock was quick as a whip on making fun of everyone and everything.

Fashion wise...There were boobs and more boobs. Legs and some booty shaking. This is from the women.

As for the men. Some wore sweats (the rappers), others wore suits, then there were a few that dressed to the nine. Fur coats and pimp suits. There was a lot of bling bling, too.

Since there wasn't anything good on television that night, I wanted to see "who did what" and "who said what", "who wore what."

Every year, the award show has something new and outrageous going on.
