I have never heard of this. It seems that they are the hottest toys. If you go to www.neopets.com, it has a website dedicated to these adorable pets.
Last night, as we were at a friend's place. One of the girls got neo pets as Christmas gifts. It was my first time seeing them. If you have two of them, they seem to converse together. But if you have one depending on the tone of your voice, the neo pet will react. I read that they have a unicorn, named "Uni", if you talk to it calmly it starts to sing. If your tone is mean or harsh, it will start complaining.
It's very hard to understand what a neo pet is saying. Sometimes you can catch a few words or understand it clearly.
This toy craze reminds me of the Ferbie. Whatever happened to them?
This premiered last night. We had to drop some gifts off at a friend's place and I missed the first hour. I got a chance to hear Kelly Clarkson sing. She sang "Natural Woman" and as usual, she didn't sound too bad. The viewers get to call in and make their vote. Kelly already had the 12 votes to qualify her in the finals.
Surprisingly I thought that Kurt Nilsen from Norway sounded real good. He sang a U2 song, "Beautiful Day." He's got a very nice voice and seems to be a threat to Kelly. One judge referred to him "an angel with a beautiful voice who looks like a hobbit." It's true his looks aren't everything (he's got a gap in his teeth, a bit overweight and a weird haircut). Kurt made a comment "if this were a contest for modeling, I wouldn't win but this is a contest for singing and this is what I am being judged for."
Well, it's the official big sales day. I went to a mall (Hillsdale Shopping Mall in San Mateo). Checked out the action and the so called sales. Nothing really peaked my interest. Gap, Macy's, Disney Store and William Sonoma were crowded with people.
Last minute shoppers will be at the malls. Hopefully the merchants will do well in sales.
The weather has been yukkie, dark clouds, light rains and some heavy showers in the bay area. Caltrain was fairly empty, not too many riders. The streets seem deserted in downtown San Jose.
It's just me in my little cubicle. I have my clock radio on, just to help me past the time. Hopefully, the office will be closed early, but no word yet if we can.
At 11:14, I was having a conversation with my supervisor, in her office. Suddenly, she felt something and then we heard some things drop. The shaking became stronger and she pulled me over to the door way. She tells me it's an earthquake and to stay still. I was holding on to her arm and she held on to me for a bit. We told the others to get under the door and to not move. We waited for it to calm, be even then, our nerves was pretty shaken.
There was some construction work going on in the other floors, and at first we thought they dropped something. But I guess when things started to shake, the workers, dropped what they were doing and ran for cover. The light fixtures in some of the offices, starting swinging back and forth. Some lights started to flicker. An alarm went off and an announcement was made.
We went to the conference and turned on the television, to get an update. Most of us were watching for details. The magnitude was a 6.5 and was centered in San Simeon. 100 miles from here. Not much damgage. My supervisor felt a little aftershock right have the bigger one.
The elevators weren't functioning and the building engineers were checking around. No major damage.
I really don't feel like working but we need to get on with things. Work needs to be done. My nerves are still shaken, but I should be ok.
