The "L" Word

No, L does not stand for love. Actually it means lesbian. That is the premise of the latest new show on Showtime. Just like "Queer As Folk" (another showtime production), it deals with being homosexual. Queer focuses on a group of gay men and their personal life. "L" deals with gay women.

Here's the scoop on the characters and storyline. Bette (Jennifer Beals) and Tina (Laurel Holloman) are the gay couple of the group, who are trying desperately to have a child. Going to countless hopefuls as sperm donors. They go through therapy to balance their relationship. Like many relationships, things aren't always rosy.

Then there is the sort of straight couple, Jennifer "Jen" (Mia Kirsher) and Tim (Eric Mabius). Jen is a recent grad student from Chicago who moves in with her boyfriend. Marina (Karina Lombard), an owner of a cafe that is the main hangout in the show. There is a strong attraction between the two when they meet at a party thrown by Jen's neighbors, Bette and Tina. A kiss was shared in the bathroom, which caught Jen by surprised and a bit confused. Jen and Marina run into each other. They share the same interest in authors. They constantly run into each and you can tell that the attraction starts to build. The kiss again and they end up in bed. She goes home to her boyfriend and starts to cry.

Shayne (Katherine Moennig) is the playboy of the group. She looks like a rock star. Shayne can pretty much get anyone she wants, drop then and go for another. She reminds me of Joan Jett. Very lanky body, tiny breasts and her voice is kind of low.

Dana (Erin Daniels) the up and coming tennis player who wants to hide her sexuality from the public. A hopeless romantic who has no luck in meeting the right girl. Everytime she sees someone she is interested in, knowing her luck that person is either straight or not available. She's not sure what is wrong with her and why is it that most of the girls go for Shayne.

Alice (Leisha Hailey) is a writer and publisher for a magazine. She too is single and hopes to meet the right person. I like her character some how. She seems very down to earth and has a great sense of humor.

There are some explicit sex scenes and nudity. Not sure if this show will do well with the viewers. We shall wait and see...

Blah Saturday

Woke up this morning. Didn't pretty much want to. But I had to get my butt out of bed and go to the gym. My sweetheart wasn't feeling that well, so it was just me. I had a great workout and then I had to due some errands.

The streets were wet from the rain last night. It was very foggy and a few light sprinkles. The gym was packed with people. There were some machines available, but when I left it go pretty full. I decided to bring a change of clothes cause I knew it was very cold outside.

I tried to get back home as quickly as I could. When it comes to shopping, it can take quiet awhile. I was starving for breakfast so when I did get home. I put away the groceries and made my favorite breakfast for my husband and I.

It sure did hit the spot!
