Yes, at the age of 36 years old, yours truly voted for the first time! Last night I got a crash course about what was on the ballot from my hubby.
I was a bit nervous at first. Trying to decide who to chose and if my name was on list of voters. When we arrived bright and early at the polling booths, indeed my name was there. Lucky me I got the touch screen. During the days when my mom voted, she would complain about using a pointy object to make your choices. Now it's simple and easy.
I even got a little sticker that signifies "I Vote With Touchscreen."
The plot: A fast talking smooth talker publicist, Stuart "Stu" played by Colin Farrell is the main character. We see Stu talking on his cell phone sweet talking his way to a client. Everyday at the same time and place, he makes a call from the a phone booth. Here he makes a call to his girlfriend, an actress named Pam played by Katie Holmes. He does this so that his wife won't be able to see the call through their cell phone bill.
Stu is not a very honest person. He lies and manipulates to get his way. Well, his life is just about to change...
After his call with Pam, the phone rings. Stu picks it up and a man begins to speak. He tells Stu that he knows that he goes to this phone both at precisely the same day and time. The caller tells him that he knows where he lives, his wife's name and his girlfriend's name. At first Stu calls his bluff and doesn't believe him. Thinking that he is just some prankster. But then a red light aimed at his chest, means that this person is serious. It gets worse when a hooker's pimp starts harassing him cause he won't hang up the phone. The sniper (voice played by Kiefer Sutherland, we don't see him until the very end) doesn't like what is going on and shoots the guy. Now it's mayhem. Cops and the SWAT team come running and surround the area.
The sniper starts taunting Stu and tells him to confess his sins. This embarrasses Stu and yet he starts to confess to his girlfriend and wife of his lies. Both are there at the scene, each on the opposite side.
The purpose of this is that the caller prides himself on using force to punish corrupt people by forcing them to admit all of their lies and sins through mental games, or killing them. At the same time, he eliminates other people as well; everyday people who are guilty of brutal dishonesty and/or corruption, such as a murderous street pimp. The caller himself is corrupt, and uses it defeat other corruption.
It starts a bit slow. Then it gets into this mind manipulation between Stu and the caller. Stu tries to smooth talk his way out of the situation, but the caller is quick to know what he is doing.
